SESSIONS FOR PROFESSIONALS:

Conducting Clinical Supervision for Addiction Professionals  

This 2 day course provides information useful to the experienced supervisor and the new supervisor. It is designed as well for front line workers who  work with student placements. These sessions will be interactive , participants are expected to share information and ideas as well as participate in case studies and video performances.Participants will leave the session with a practical outline for working with employees and students and have a working knowledge of the core concepts of conducting Clinical Supervision. This session is CACCF approved for 14 continuing education hours

Ethics in Addictions Counsellling

Participants will explore issues related to ethical dilemmas when working with the addicted population. Participants will learn about competencies and code of conduct. Participants will engage in a self assessment process designed to bring the individual into awareness of their own practice when working with clients. Participants will learn about Values and the helping Relationship and so much more 
Participants should expect an interactive session that explores bias’ and how our beliefs impact the work we do. Participants will be asked to share experiences and ideas with each other in this interactive session
This workshop offers 6 hours for CACCF core certification, those wanting core hours will need to complete a written test.

Practical Management of Legal Issues and Documentation in the Addictions Setting

In this session participants will explore what are the responsibilities of the addiction counsellor in relationship to liability, documentation and risk management. This day is an interactive process with case studies, experiential exercises and participant interactions

Leadership Development a 3 day Workshop

Over the course of 3 days participants will be given the opportunity to explore their own style of leadership. They will explore “how” their leadership impacts others.  This interactive experience will encourage participants to broaden how they view leadership and experience it the objectives of this workshop are to

Develop greater awareness of your influence; understanding how going first, particularly in challenging situations, encourages others to follow

Discover how you may be contributing to a lack of clarity with your colleagues and subordinates and what to do about it

Develop confidence in ‘addressing the unaddressed’ that inhibits your energy, divides teams & inhibits partnerships      

Foster inclusion within your team, while creating more personal accountability  

Increase your awareness of what’s really going on, enabling you to make better decisions that are supported

Managing Disruptive Behaviour

Participants will explore the dynamics of a residential setting and how these dynamics effect staff and client relationships; they will learn the art of how to stay calm in the face of a client who is escalating; they will explore how interpersonal relationships are affecting them and the staff team

PERSONAL GROWTH SERIES:

Conflict Endurance (Anger Exploration)

Using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode assessment tool participants will assess their own style of conflict. Working as a team participants will create conflict experiments and make attempts at resolution. Participants will be asked to bring “real life” conflict to these experiments so the participants can create a conflict resolution model that works for them.     

Participants will have an awareness of their own style of conflict and its impact others

Participants will have a framework of how they manage conflict within a group    

Creative resolutions to conflict will be experienced

“Letting Go” The Art of Holding on

Participants will have the opportunity to experience how they hold on to past experiences in their day to day functions. They will experience this session in a group format with experiments designed to build personal and professional awareness. The day will be facilitated with theory and practice. Participants will be given the opportunity to build awareness around “how” they hold on to issues as a group. As a group the participants will practice “holding on” and “Letting go” to facilitate a choice about how they function on the group.

Participants will have awareness of how past experiences are influencing present day choices

Participants will be better equipped to explore how “holding on” is experienced in the body

Forgiveness as an option is explored by the group
